Defense Ministry issues clarification over ‘rejecting’ Punjab tableaux in Republic Day parade

The Ministry of Defense issued clarification over not including Punjab tableaux in Republic Day parade.

The Ministry of Defence clarified that their tableaux were not included in the Republic Day Parade as they were not aligned with the broader themes of this year’s tableau.

The ministry has stated that the process of selection of tableau is transparent and involves an expert committee. The committee evaluates the proposals based on various criteria such as the theme of the tableau, its concept, design, and the visual impact it has during the parade. The ministry has stressed that the committee’s decisions are not influenced by any political considerations and are based solely on the merits of the proposals.

The Ministry of Defense also highlighted that states which have not been selected for the parade are being invited to display their tableaux during Bharat Parva at the Red Fort, New Delhi. The move reflects an effort to include all states in the celebrations and ensure that no state is left out.

Notably, the Central government is facing criticism from Punjab, Delhi and West Bengal over the non-inclusion of their respective tableau.
