Kolkata, February 1, 2026: A major controversy erupted at a popular pub in Kolkata’s Park Street area when Hindu Brahmin actor Sayak Chakraborty accused the restaurant of serving him the wrong food. He had ordered mutton sticks but unknowingly received and ate beef instead. Park Street Police swiftly arrested waiter Sheikh Nasiruddin on Saturday.

The incident unfolded Friday night when Sayak visited the ‘Oli’ pub with friends for dinner. The dispute began when the waiter brought a second stick to the table. Upon questioning, the waiter admitted the first one was beef and the new one was mutton. Shocked, the actor accused the management of hurting religious sentiments. He shared a video of the confrontation on social media, showing the manager apologizing and calling it a serious mistake.

The viral video sparked communal debates online, with some accusing the actor of politicizing the issue. As backlash grew, Sayak deleted the video and issued a clarification. He stated his intent was not to target any religion or incite riots but to express emotional outrage over his religious violation. He emphasized his anger was directed at the restaurant’s negligence. Kolkata Police say the investigation continues, with possible testing of food samples.
