BJP Leader Shot Outside His Home During Bihar Elections, Panic in Bhagalpur

Bhagalpur (Bihar), October 25, 2025:
A shocking incident took place in Bhagalpur district amid the ongoing Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. Senior BJP leader Vivekanand Prasad alias Bablu Yadav was shot outside his home on Friday evening in the TNB Law College Lane area under Barari Police Station limits.

BJP leader shot twice while walking outside his home

According to eyewitnesses, Bablu Yadav was taking a walk outside his residence when Suraj Tanti, a local resident of Surjikheel, allegedly arrived with his associates and opened fire on him. Two bullets struck the BJP leader, leaving him critically injured.

Hearing the gunshots, locals rushed to the spot and immediately took Yadav to Mayaganj Hospital, where a team of doctors is treating him. The incident triggered panic in the area, with sounds of screams and chaos reported soon after the attack.

Old enmity suspected as motive

Preliminary police investigation suggests that the shooting may have been the result of a long-standing dispute. A few days earlier, Suraj Tanti had reportedly been involved in an altercation with a local fruit vendor named Dewanand. During that incident, Bablu Yadav had informed the police, leading to Dewanand’s detention. Authorities now believe that the shooting could have been revenge for that earlier incident.

Police investigation and CCTV footage

Police reached the crime scene shortly after the attack and launched an investigation. Officers have retrieved CCTV footage from nearby cameras that captured the entire incident. Raids are currently being conducted in multiple areas to track down the accused attackers.

Senior officials have confirmed that extra security has been deployed in the region due to the ongoing election period. The situation remains tense, and further updates are awaited on Bablu Yadav’s medical condition.
