In a big setback to Congress, , BJP’s Harsh Mahajan wins Rajya Sabha elections from Himachal Pradesh in cross voting.
Shortly before Mahajan’s victory was announced, state chief minister and Congress leader Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu claimed that five or six of his MLAs had been taken to neighbouring BJP-ruled Haryana. They were accompanied by the Central Reserve Police Force, he claimed.
After cross voting by 6 congress MLAs both candidates got 34- 34 votes. Harsh mahajan declared winner after he won the toss.
