MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora along with Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain and other administrative officers held a review meeting at Bachat Bhawan, Ludhiana on Friday.
Arora thoroughly reviewed various development projects at the meeting and gave necessary directions to all the concerned. He categorically instructed all the officials to complete all the tasks within the given deadlines. He also took serious note of absence of a couple of officers who were found non-serious in attending these meetings. He categorically stated that necessary action will be taken against officers who will be found absent on flimsy ground in the next meetings. He instructed all the officials to take these meetings very seriously and come fully prepared.
The projects reviewed at the meeting included the Halwara Airport, upgradation of Civil Hospital, National Highways Projects, works related to Municipal Corporation, traffic, cycle track, beautification of elevated road, two VUPs in the Sherpur area, 700 parking slots and 4 bridges on the Sidhwan Canal.
Addressing the meeting, MP Arora asked the officials to complete the pending works of the Halwara Airport so that it could be transferred to AAI from PWD. He strictly directed to finish the new works asked for by team AAI of this airport by April 25.
During the meeting, MP Arora discussed with Commissioner of Police regarding the increasing number of PCR vehicles in the city. He said a sufficient number of PCR vehicles are required to further streamline vehicular traffic in the city. He said major traffic problems take place during morning and evening hours. He also suggested to CP to use the Police Helpline Number for addressing complaints related to traffic jams.
MP Arora asked the Civil Surgeon to adequately maintain the Civil Hospital which was recently inaugurated by Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann after its complete renovation. He assured to start a new ICU in civil hospital in the larger interest of the patients. He asked the health authorities to prepare Ayushman cards in maximum numbers for the welfare of needy patients. He expressed his complete dissatisfaction with the functioning of the existing contractor of parking at civil hospital and directed to replace him without wasting any time.
He also directed the NHAI officials to immediately clear debris along the boundary wall of GCW. The debris is lying there after completion of the elevated road project.
He was apprised by the contractor that cycle track work will be completed by mid-October. Regarding the construction of two VUPs, MP Arora was apprised that tenders for the same have been floated.
MP Arora also reviewed the work of locating sites for the setting up of ESI Medical College in the city. National Highways projects such as Ludhiana-Rupnagar (package-1), Ludhiana-Bathinda and Delhi-Katra were also reviewed.
