Minister Anil Vij conducts surprise inspection of construction work at Shaheed Smarak in Ambala Cantonment

Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labor Minister, Anil Vij today conducted a surprise inspection of the construction works at Shaheed Smarak, Bank Square, and the drain construction at 12 Cross Road in Ambala Cantonment.

He reviewed the progress and directed the officials and construction agency staff present at the site to complete the work promptly.

Vij inspected the under-construction Shaheed Smarak on GT Road and reviewed the intricate art work being undertaken in the memorial’s main art gallery.He observed the displays, which aim to present history in an engaging manner, and interacted with artisans.

Representatives from the construction agency provided details about the galleries and the historical depictions they planned to showcase. He also examined materials being used for the construction.

Notably, the Shaheed Smarak, dedicated to the First War of Independence in 1857, is being constructed at a cost of approximately ₹500 crore and is in its final stages.

Inspected various halls in the Smarak to take progress updates

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij directed agency representatives to expedite construction to facilitate the inauguration of Smarak soon. Before this, he inspected the entrance, various halls, pathways, and other arrangements within the memorial.

He also reviewed emergency exits, fire safety systems, and other facilities in the halls.

Additionally, he gathered information about the construction of the Memorial Tower and directed fast-tracking horticulture work in the memorial.

Key attractions in the Monument:

Interpretation Centre: VIP rooms, shops, children’s play area, reception, toilet block, courtyard, VIP meeting hall, conference hall, and dining hall.

Two-story Museum: Museum gallery, audio-visual hall, lobby, office area, Shaheedi Wall, and VIP entrance.

Open-Air Theatre: Sitting for 2,000 people, exhibition hall, food court, toilet block, rehearsal room, filtration room, and other facilities

.Auditorium Building: Auditorium, coffee shop, food court, seating area, lobby, courtyard, library, and e-library.

Water Bodies: Various fountains, water screens, connecting bridges, and other features.

Memorial Tower: A 150-foot-tall Memorial Tower with an art gallery, water body, high-speed lift, and more.Underground Parking: Double basement parking for 400 cars and 20 buses, along with 10 staff quarters.

Additional Facilities: An information center with shops, a security room, and a ticket counter. The memorial will also include a helipad for VVIP arrivals.

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij inspects construction work at Bank Square

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij reviewed the progress of the Bank Square construction and interacted with representatives of the construction agency.

During this visit, he instructed the MD of Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Sh. OP Singh, to visit the site along with corporation and municipal council officials for further discussions.

The Energy and Transport Minister inspected various floors of Bank Square, urging swift completion so that banks in the main market could be shifted there. It is noteworthy that around 35 banks from Sadar Bazaar are planned to be relocated to Bank Square. He also discussed security and other arrangements with the officials.

Inspection of drain construction work at 12 Cross Road

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij also inspected the drain construction work at 12 Cross Road and instructed the construction agency staff to ensure timely completion. He emphasized the need for high-quality work to improve water drainage in the area.
