Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and Mayor Vineet Dhir today directed the officers/officials to ensure full-proof arrangements for the Shobha Yatra to mark the Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji.
The Minister and DC on Monday minutely took stock of all the arrangements made by the different departments for the celebrations of Sobha Yatra and Parkash Utsav on February11, and 12, 2025.
Presiding over a meeting with the officers and various religious and social organizations, they said that Police, Civil Administration and Municipal Corporation would make elaborate arrangements for the Shobha Yatra and Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji.
The Minister asked the Police Department to make foolproof security arrangements for the event besides ensuring proper deployment of lady Police during the Shobha Yatra which will pass from several areas of the city. He also told the police that the needed diversions in traffic must be made for ensuring the smooth flow of traffic. He categorically mentioned that proper traffic management should be ensured so that devotees do not face any kind of problem during this event. Police officials were also told to set up control rooms to ensure proper security arrangements.
Likewise, the Minister and DC also told the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar to make the necessary arrangements for cleanliness, the supply of potable drinking water, mobile toilet units, proper functioning of street lights, and decoration on the Shobha Yatra route. They also told PSPCL officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the function and the health department was asked to deploy special medical teams on the occasion. They asked the district administration to evolve a foolproof mechanism to ensure that this mega event was observed with full devotion and religious gaiety. They are directed the various departments to carry out various tasks as a part of their duty including preparation of route plan, necessary traffic diversion, public address system, cleanliness on Shobha Yatra route, setting up of Police Control Room, etc.
In another review, they directed the Civil Surgeon to ensure proper arrangements of medical facilities during this mega event. They asked to deploy ambulances, doctors team to address any kind of medical emergency.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Vineet Dhir assured the religious organizations of prompt action of their suggestions by Jalandhar Municipal Corporation. He also mentioned that the MCJ will appoint Nodal Officer with respect to arrangements from civic bodies. He stated that the contact number of Nodal Officer will also be shared by the Corporation so that any one from religious organizations can contact him.
The Minister and the DC reiterated that the district administration would make all the necessary arrangements to pay tribute to Sri Guru Ravidass Ji in a befitting and unsurpassed manner.
