Chandigarh, July 9
In a proactive step to safeguard the health of students and school staff, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) has launched an extensive fogging drive across government and private schools in the city. The initiative aims to curb the spread of vector-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya during the ongoing monsoon season.
The fogging operations covered key areas within school premises, including classrooms, corridors, playgrounds, and other high-risk zones where stagnant water could serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The drive was executed in close coordination with school authorities to ensure minimal disruption to academic activities.
Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar, IAS, stated that the safety and well-being of children is of utmost priority for the administration. He urged school managements and parents to remain vigilant and adopt preventive hygiene practices, especially by eliminating water stagnation and keeping surroundings clean.
The MCC reiterated its commitment to maintaining public health standards across the city and appealed to residents for their cooperation in supporting such initiatives.
