Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal announced on Thursday plans to revamp the gym for sportspersons at Guru Nanak Stadium, aiming to install ultra-modern machines and equipment to enhance players’ fitness levels.
During his visit to the gym, Jorwal, a fitness enthusiast, expressed his surprise at the out-dated equipment currently in use for the players’ training.
Accompanied by CM Field Officer Kritika Goyal, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of providing better facilities to foster a sports culture. He noted that improved amenities would inspire younger generations to pursue sports as a career. Jorwal assured that the district administration would fully support the players’ well-being. He insisted that athletes with the potential to bring glory to the country should not lack access to any facilities. He also instructed officials to submit proposals for renovation and for acquiring the latest equipment within a few days.
District Sports Officer Kuldeep Chugh added that the gym had not undergone renovations in many years and that an upgraded facility with advanced equipment would benefit athletes in various sports, including basketball, judo, athletics, football, hockey, wrestling, and more.
