Local Government Minister inaugurates drinking water project worth Rs 12.47 crore

Solving the drinking water problem of Rupnagar city, Cabinet Minister Local Government Dr. Ravjot Singh today inaugurated project worth Rs 12.47 crore to increase canal water supply to city.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the government led by Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann is constantly striving to solve every issue of the people of the state. He said that the drinking water issue of Ropar city was brought to his notice by the constituency MLA Advocate Dinesh Chadha after that this project worth Rs 12.47 has been approved.
He said that a total of eight kilometers of pipeline will be laid in this project, in which the rising main will be 2.2 kilometers.
He said that this project will be completed by December 2025, which will ensure the supply of drinking water to the city residents and will have the capacity to supply water for many years to come.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Rupnagar Advocate Dinesh Chadha said that Ropar city gets the same amount of water for drinking from the canal in 1992, although the population in the city has increased many times in these 33 years. But in these 33 years, no government has bothered to increase the amount of canal water for the city.
He said that as soon as we came to power, we took steps to solve this problem, got the project through the Water Supply Department and got it approved by the Chief Minister.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Pooja Sial Grewal, SP Rajpal Singh Hundal, SDM Sachin Pathak, senior party leader Bhag Singh Maidan, urban president Shiv Kumar Lalpura, advocate Satnam Singh and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
