Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today inspected the ongoing renovation work at the Multi Skill Development Centre located in the Leather Complex on Kapurthala Road.
During the visit, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials from the Public Works Department to accelerate the pace of renovation work. He emphasized that the Multi Skill Development Centre, located in an industrial zone and capable of opening new employment avenues for youth, should be developed in the most effective manner with no compromises in quality. He mentioned that Punjab Government led by Chief Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has adopted multi pronged strategy to make youngsters skilled so that they can earn their livelihood.
Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to providing skill training to youth and paving the way for employment opportunities, Dr. Aggarwal stated that this Centre, set up in the industrial area, will help young people acquire vocational skills and secure jobs. He added that, keeping in mind the employment prospects of youth and industry demands, various skill-based courses will be conducted through training partners at the Centre.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the nearby girls’ hostel is being developed as a Migration Support Centre. Here, temporary accommodation and other necessary facilities will be provided to trainees until they secure jobs, ensuring they do not face any inconvenience during the transition period.
Dr. Aggarwal further stated that the District Administration is making sincere efforts to provide maximum training and employment opportunities to youth, and the Multi Skill Development Centre will play a vital role in shaping the future of young individuals.
