Jalandhar DC releases draft voter list for SGPC Board Constitution, claims and objections invited

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today released the draft voter list for constitution of a new board for the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC).

Addressing representatives of political parties and Sikh organizations at the District Administrative Complex, Dr. Aggarwal stated that the draft list was prepared based on voter registrations drive conducted between October 21, 2023, and December 15, 2024.

As per the guidelines set by the Chief Commissioner Gurudwara Elections, eligible voters can file claims and objections concerning the draft list until January 24, 2025. These will be reviewed and addressed by the respective revising authorities by February 5, 2025. He mentioned that manuscripts of supplementary roles will be finalized by February 24, 2025, with the final publication scheduled for February 25, 2025.

Dr. Aggarwal said the draft voter list includes 183,125 voters across 365 polling stations in six board constituencies. These include Phillaur (54 polling stations, 38,952 voters), Nakodar (74 PS, 40,387 voters), Shahkot (71PS, 32,280 voters), Adampur (48 PS, 20,610 voters), Jalandhar City (58 PS, 26,014 voters), and Kartarpur (60 polling stations and 24,882 voters). SDM Phiilaur, Shahkot and Nakodar are designated revising authorities for Phillaur, Shahkot and Nakodar board Constituencies respectively while Joint Commissioner Jalandhar Municipal Corporation is revising Authority for Jalandhar City, SDM-1 for Adampur, SDM-2 for Kartarpur board constituency.

Dr. Aggarwal urged Sikh organizations and political parties to create awareness about the registration drive to ensure no eligible voter is left out. Eligible voters can submit their registration forms by January 24, 2025, provided they meet the required criteria for enrollment.
