Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today reiterated the firm commitment of the state government to implement the post-matric scholarship scheme in the right earnest.
Chairing a meeting here with the representatives of the students and educational institutions here at the conference hall of the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, directed the educational institutions to ensure effective implementation of Post Metric Scholarship Scheme in letter and spirit. He said that all the issues raised by the students must be resolved for ensuring the welfare of the students. He further asked the educational institutions not to withheld degrees and roll numbers of students at any cost as it would attract stren action against those involved in violation of the provisions of the scheme. He also directed the educational institutions to submit written undertaking with respect to timely release of roll numbers and degrees to students.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann was committed towards welfare of the students studying under this scheme. He mentioned that over 24,000 students have taken benefit of this scheme during current academic year and Administration was duty-bound to ensure that they do not face any problem during their studies. The DC further assured the students that the state government would safeguard their interests at all costs. He said that all-out efforts would be made to make sure that the students get the full benefits of the scheme.
He directed the representatives of educational institutions to accord top priority to resolve the issues of students at college level while directing welfare department to minutely monitor the implementation of the scheme.
