Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal visited the residence of world-renowned runner Fauja Singh in Bias village of Jalandhar district to express his condolences on his demise. He met the bereaved family and consoled them, stating that the district administration stands firmly with the family in this hour of grief.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the passing of 114-year-old runner Fauja Singh has brought tears not only to Punjabis in Punjab but also to every Punjabi living abroad. He mentioned that the Jalandhar Rural Police, acting swiftly, have arrested the driver along with the vehicle involved in the road accident. He added that further legal action is being taken against the driver as per the law.
He stated that the loss the family has suffered due to the passing of Fauja Singh can never be compensated. He assured that the district administration will always stand firmly with the family.
It is worth mentioning that on Monday, Fauja Singh was taking a walk outside his home in his native village when an unidentified vehicle hit him. Following the incident, he was admitted to a private hospital in Jalandhar, where he took his last breath.
