Surrey Police Arrest Man After Overnight Shooting Outside Home; 46-Year-Old Charged With Attempted Murder

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) has arrested a man and charged him with multiple criminal offences in connection with an overnight shooting that occurred outside a residence in Surrey.

According to police, at around 8:45 p.m. on October 26, 2025, SPS officers responded to reports of gunfire following an alleged altercation between several individuals outside a home in the 14100-block of 72 Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found and arrested a suspect who was still at the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured, though the exterior of the residence sustained multiple bullet holes.

Police have identified the suspect as 46-year-old David Bruce Baxter, who now faces two serious charges:

  • One count of attempted murder using a firearm, and

  • One count of discharging a firearm at a dwelling.

Baxter remains in custody and is expected to appear in court later today.

Authorities noted that since the matter is now before the courts, no further case details can be released. However, the SPS confirmed that the incident is not believed to be gang-related.
