Pakistan Shaken by Balochistan Uprising Against CPEC: 48 Blast and Attack Sites, 80 Dead
Islamabad/Quetta, February 1, 2026: Pakistan’s Balochistan province has been gripped by horrific violence and bloody military clashes for the past 48 hours, sending shockwaves across the nation. In the second phase of “Operation Herof” launched by the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), militants carried out coordinated attacks on 48 different sites across 14 cities in the province. BLA terrorists targeted police stations, paramilitary bases, railway stations, and other government infrastructure on a massive scale. The violence has spread to major cities like Quetta, Gwadar, Makran, Habb, Chaman, and Nushki.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti confirmed the gravity of the situation, stating that Pakistani army operations have killed 70 terrorists so far. Federal Minister Mohsin Naqvi verified that 10 police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel have been martyred in the fighting. On the other hand, BLA spokesperson Jand Baloch claimed they captured the CTD headquarters in Nushki and killed 84 Pakistani soldiers, though the army dismissed these as mere propaganda. This time, the attacks involved suicide bombers and female fighters.
The violence has completely severed rail and road links in Balochistan. Militants blocked highways at several points and damaged railway tracks, leading to the suspension of train services. Sources indicate that the escalating unrest stems primarily from the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects and alleged exploitation of the province’s natural resources by China. Rising local anger and these terrorist attacks have pushed Pakistan’s security situation to a critically precarious state.
