Chandigarh, April 13

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders on Friday criticized Punjab Leader of Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa for his irresponsible and fear-inducing statement about the alleged presence of 50 grenades in Punjab, of which 18 were purportedly used, and 32 remain. Senior AAP leader Deepak Bali strongly condemned Bajwa’s remarks, calling them a deliberate attempt to create panic among the public and undermine the peace and stability of Punjab.

Deepak Bali questioned the intent behind Bajwa’s statement, emphasizing that a true leader genuinely concerned about Punjab’s well-being would have acted responsibly. “If Bajwa was sincerely worried about Punjab’s safety, he should have immediately informed the police, intelligence agencies, or the Director General of Police (DGP). Instead, he chose to make an alarming statement in the media, which only serves to spread fear and uncertainty,” Bali said.

Bali further criticized Bajwa for prioritizing his political agenda over Punjab’s peace. “Bajwa’s remarks clearly show that he is more interested in grabbing media attention than in ensuring the safety of Punjab’s citizens. This is nothing more than a political stunt aimed at creating unnecessary panic and garnering publicity,” he added.

AAP Leader reaffirmed his trust in Punjab Police and the state government’s capability to manage law and order effectively. “Punjab Police is highly competent, and the government is fully equipped to address any challenges. Bajwa’s baseless statements undermine public confidence and create an atmosphere of fear without any substantiated evidence,” Bali noted.

Highlighting Bajwa’s failure to provide actionable information, Bali questioned the credibility of his claims. “If Bajwa has concrete evidence about these grenades, why has he not shared the details with law enforcement or identified the sources? His vague statements only suggest a lack of genuine concern for Punjab’s peace and an intent to exploit the situation for political mileage,” Bali asserted.

AAP leader also pointed out the Congress party’s history of mishandling Punjab’s sensitive issues. “Bajwa’s comments are a continuation of the Congress party’s legacy of poor leadership and mismanagement. It’s ironic that Bajwa, whose party contributed most to Punjab’s past struggles, is now making baseless claims to stoke fear,” Bali remarked.

Bali called on Partap Bajwa to act responsibly and refrain from making reckless statements that can harm Punjab’s harmony. “A mature politician would prioritize the state’s welfare over personal ambitions. Bajwa must stop using Punjab’s peace as a tool for political gamesmanship,” Bali concluded.
