Member Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal and MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar on Monday handed over cheques worth Rs. 2 crore to 2000 beneficiaries of Chabbewal and Mahilpur block for repair of houses.
Extending greetings on the pious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and Navratras, Member Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that there was no dearth of funds for development and these works would be done with accelerated pace in coming time. He state so far Rs. 10 crore had been released to 10,000 beneficiaries for repair of houses including Rs. 2 crore grants given that day. Dr. Chabbewal pointed out that Punjab Government had announced a grant of Rs. 5 crore annually to MLAs, which would furhter speed up the development works in villages.
Urgning Sarpanches of villages to keep a close tab on funds credited to the accounts of Panchayats, Member Parliament asserted that village representatives should track on the development funds as well as the works for which these were allotted. He said the pro-active approach of Sarpanches could bring farmore transparency and efficiency in the public works. He also appealed to the Sarpanches that there should be no bias against anyone in filing applications for pucca houses and other welfare schemes as all the eligible beneficiaries would be provided due benefits.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar mentioned that he had set a target to convert all kachha houses to pucca ones in the constituency and definitely he would achieve this goal shortly. He said the last date of submission of applications for pucca houses had been extended up to April 30 so that those could not file applications till date, they are at liberty to do so now.
Referring to sports infrastructure in the villages, Dr. Ishank Kumar also stated playground will be made in all villages besides having facilities of tracks and gyms. He also lauded Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Finance Minister Dr. Hapal Singh Cheema for presenting a pro-peopl budget as it encompassed all sections of society under welfare initiatives. Development funds to the tune of Rs. 4.50 crore are being distributed shortly, which would give impetus to works in villages, said Dr. Ishank Kumar adding that remaining works will be accomplished shortly. The members of panchayats, while receiving cheques, thanked Member Parliament and MLA for carrying out holistic development in the constituency.
