In view of the steadily rising demand for flowers, Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat today directed officers to take necessary measures to promote floriculture across the state. He was reviewing the progress of the department’s activities at the Punjab Civil Secretariat on Monday.
Bhagat said that in the present times, the demand for flowers is increasing everywhere, with no event or programme considered complete without floral decoration. He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the State Government is taking continuous steps to boost the horticulture sector.
The Minister informed that the Punjab Government is providing financial assistance of ₹14,000 per acre to farmers for flower seed production. He further said that technical training in floriculture is also being provided to farmers as per their requirements.
During the review meeting, Horticulture Secretary Basant Garg and Director Horticulture Shailender Kaur apprised the Minister in detail about the initiatives being undertaken for farmers’ welfare and various projects currently in progress in the department.
Bhagat reiterated that the Mann Government’s primary objective is to enhance farmers’ income and affirmed the government’s commitment to extend all possible support to achieve this goal.
