Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said that individuals whose houses were damaged during the July 2023 floods can still submit written appeals to the Deputy Commissioner of their respective districts for compensation. This applies only if the damage wasn’t previously reported and found true upon investigation.
Chautala was responding to a question asked by a member of the House during the ongoing winter session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
Previously, the state government invited applications for flood damage compensation through the e-compensation portal. A total of 1,34,310 applications were received for crop loss (excluding cotton), 6,057 for house damage, and 383 for animal loss.
Chautala informed the House that compensation assessments have been completed following proper verification, adhering to state government norms. For crop loss, Rs. 97,93,25,839 (including Rs. 7000 per acre for re-sown areas) is being disbursed to eligible farmers via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
He further said that Rs. 5,78,60,500 has been sanctioned for 4,768 claims related to animal loss and house damage. However, a technical error (inactive Aadhaar details/bank account errors) delayed DBT transfers for 574 claims. These remaining beneficiaries will receive their compensation once the error is rectified.
Specifically in Sirsa district, Chautala said that Rs. 3,55,000 was approved for house damage against 14 applications after thorough verification.
Additionally, 1,242 claims for crop damage are under consideration following assessment, with a total compensation amount of Rs. 3,20,20,574 pending release.
