The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee and former Union Minister, Kumari Selja said that the consequences of the stubbornness of the BJP-led central government are being felt by the country and the state today.
“The opposition to the Hit and Run law is due to the self-conceit of the central government. There was a need to prepare public opinion before enacting such laws and then take steps accordingly. However, due to the self-conceit of the central government, provisions were made in the Hit and Run law without consulting any driver organization or seeking advice from any transport association. This has adversely affected the lives of all individuals involved,” she said.
In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that the most important thing was to make the general public aware of any road accident. People should have been told that it is everyone’s responsibility to immediately take the injured to the hospital after a road accident. The Supreme Court’s order, which states that anyone taking the injured to the hospital should not be questioned in any way, should have been strictly enforced. Those who were affected by preparing this law were also ignored, whose relatives died due to not receiving immediate medical attention. This law is solely the result of the stubbornness of the government, which is why there is opposition on all sides.
Kumari Selja said that today the voices of opposition have become so strong that not only auto-rickshaw drivers but also private bus operators and truck drivers have gone on strike. This is starting to affect the common man’s daily life. There is a shortage of petrol pumps and petrol diesel in some places, while in vegetable markets, there has been a decline in the arrival of vegetables.
The former Union Minister said that in the last few days, the way the situation has developed in the country and the state, it seems that the central government wants to entangle people in protests, that’s why it is adamant on its stance. It is surprising that amid all-round opposition, no representative of the BJP-JJP Alliance Government of the state is showing the courage to go between the strike, protest, or demonstration, nor is giving assurance to discuss this matter with the center.
