JMIC Reader among four held in separate bribery cases in Haryana

Acting on four different complaints of bribery, the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested four officials, including an Assistant Lineman (ALM), a Reader and Ahlmed of Judicial Magistrate and a Kanungo (Retd.), for allegedly accepting bribes worth Rs 40,000.

Sharing the information here today, a spokesperson of the Bureau said that the accused have been arrested from Sonipat, Faridabad, and Jind districts.

In the first case, the ACB team arrested Lovekush posted as an ALM in Sub Division, Bahalgarh, Sonipat, while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000. The complainant, a resident of village Pabsara alleged that the accused ALM had demanded Rs 25,000 bribe in lieu of giving a temporary electricity meter connection in his plot situated at Industrial Area, Jhudpur. After getting a complaint, the ACB team conducted a raid and arrested the accused red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.

In another case, the ACB team arrested Sumit, Clerk posted as Ahlmed in the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC), Faridabad while accepting Rs 3,000 bribe from the complainant. The accused was demanding a bribe in lieu of settling of vehicle challan. After the complaint, the ACB team laid a trap and arrested him red-handed with Rs 3,000.

The spokesperson said that in the third case, ACB team had arrested Hansraj, Clerk posted as Reader in the Court of JMIC, Faridabad while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000. Accused Hansraj was demanding bribe money of Rs 2000 from complainant in lieu of giving an early date for payment of traffic challan so that the impounded vehicle could be released earliest.

In a separate operation, ACB team arrested Ramdiya, Kanungo (Retd.) while accepting bribe money of Rs 10,000. In his complaint, Vikram of village Kuchrana Kalan, Jind alleged that the accused Kanungo demanding a bribe in lieu of partition of land khewat. Accordingly, a trap was laid and accused arrested in Tehsil office, Alewa, Jind.

The accused have been booked under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code and further investigation is underway.
