Haryana Police is not only dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of people within their state but also bringing back the lost smiles to families in neighbouring states. People are expressing gratitude and appreciation for the initiative taken by Haryana Police to reunite missing children.

Giving details, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) in Panchkula successfully reunited a lost and sole son with his family in Rajasthan after a decade. These reunions are a testament to the efforts and coordination between different units of the police force to combat human trafficking and ensure the welfare of children.

He said that State Crime Branch Chief, Additional Director General of Police, Sh. OP Singh, has instructed all the AHTU in-charges to periodically visit the children’s homes of all the states bordering Haryana, due to which the AHTU team will also be helped in creating a database so that the campaign to trace the relatives of the missing children can be speeded up in the state.

He further informed that the process began when the AHTU Panchkula unit contacted the Welfare Officer at Children Home Rajpura, district Patiala, Punjab in search of the missing children. Upon getting the information, the Welfare Officer told that they did not have any child from Haryana, but there is such a child who is living here and there is a problem in locating his family. During counseling, the child informed his name, parent’s name, and himself as a resident of Bihar Samastipur. On contacting the child’s mentioned address and family it was revealed that the child did not belong to them and had been found on a train.

During further counseling, the word “Dalghar” came up, which was used as a basis for an internet search, leading to information about six villages. Contact was made with all the states, and it was discovered that “Dalghar” was located in Sirohi district, Rajasthan. The child’s photo was sent to the village, and the father recognized his son. The father was also sent a photo and a video call was conducted. The father, Shankar Lal, shared that his son had gone missing from their village ten years ago in 2013 when he was only 6 years old. By the order of CWC Amritsar, the minor was handed over to family after required formalities.

In another instance, the Chairperson of the CWC Shimla informed the AHTU Panchkula unit via email that they had two minor children, aged 11 and 8, who seemed to have a connection with Haryana based on their language. The AHTU gathered information about both children and conducted counseling sessions over the phone. During the counseling, the 11-year-old child seemed familiar with the language near Jind area. On the same basis, the local police in Jind was contacted by the AHTU, where the child’s family was traced at Bhiwani Road, Jind. On identification, video calling was done with the family. Whereas another minor child who was 8 years old and had reached Shimla by train at the end of April, his family was traced in Kalka, Panchkula. The mother of the minor child was poor and illiterate, so the expenses for bringing the child were also borne by the AHTU.
