Govt working to identify about 500 acres of land to compensate afforestation: Haryana Deputy CM

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala stated that the Haryana government is working to identify about 500 acres of land as an alternative measure to facilitate compensatory afforestation for trees cut down during road construction and widening projects.

This initiative aims to accelerate the Public Works Department’s upcoming road construction and widening projects. Dushyant Chautala was responding to a question asked by a member during the winter session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.

He further stated that under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) a sanction of Rs 129.40 crore has been done for the construction of four lane road from Kaithal to Cheeka excluding Kaithal city, Siwan town and Cheeka. The scantion was issued on March 30, 2023.

He said that administrative approval of Rs 844.28 lakh under the state head had already been given on November 16, 2022 regarding specific maintenance works with 40 mm Bituminous Concrete on the Kaithal-Cheeka-Patiala road.
