Enrollment in Haryana’s Govt Schools 16.57% higher than pre-pandemic year: Kanwar Pal

Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal said that the enrollment of students in the state’s government schools during the year 2022-23 was 16.57 percent higher than the pre-pandemic year of 2019-20.

Kanwar Pal was responding to a question from MLA, Gohana Jagbir Singh Malik during the Question Hour of the winter session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.

He said that to increase the girl’s enrollment in the government schools, 36 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) residential schools for classes 6th to 8th have been approved for 36 Educational Backwards Blocks (EBBs) and 22 KGBVs have already been upgraded to senior secondary school.

To further boost enrollment of female students from classes 9 to 12 in government schools, approvals for 36 hostels accommodating 100 girls each in Educational Backward Blocks (EBBs) have been sanctioned. These hostels have been linked with the prestigious Aarohi Model Schools of the state.

He said that cycles are provided to Class 6 students (both boys and girls) belonging to the Scheduled Caste category to encourage their enrollment. Additionally, the state government is supplying free textbooks and workbooks to all students, along with providing free uniforms to students from Class 1 to 8.
