Chief Electoral Office introduces 7 voter Information apps for Haryana residents

Haryana Chief Secretary, Sanjeev Kaushal today participated in state state-level programme organized to celebrate the 14th National Voters’ Day at Kurukshetra.

Presiding over the state-level function, Sanjeev Kaushal emphasized the extensive arrangements made by the Chief Electoral Office to ensure a smooth and easy election process in the state. He stressed the importance of ensuring that every eligible person, especially women, is enrolled in the voter list. Sanjeev Kaushal urged citizens to cooperate with the Election Commission for the fair and free conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state.

Digital Platforms for Voter Engagement: A Look at the 7 Innovative Apps

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary highlighted the State Election Office’s establishment of seven platforms to disseminate information to voters, allowing them to access crucial details from the comfort of their homes. These platforms include Voter Helpline, Micro ECI, Queue Management, C Vigil, Voter Turnout, Know Your Candidate, and Election Seizure Management System.

Empowering Voters: Over 1 Lakh New Registrations and 1.97 Crore Total Voters

The Election Department reported a significant surge in voter registrations, with over 1.41 lakh new young voters added to the electoral rolls. The total number of registered voters stands at 1.97 crore, comprising 1.05 crore male and 92.50 lakh female voters. Additionally, the establishment of 19,812 polling stations across the state underscores the Election Office’s commitment to ensuring accessible and inclusive elections.

On this occasion, the Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Anurag Agarwal said that during the revision of the voter list, a total of 5,25,615 people have been registered as voters, including 1,41,290 new voters. He shared that the State Election Office has honoured the lucky draw winners among the voters registered from October 1, 2023, to December 9, 2023, by awarding them laptops and pen drives.

Recognition for Election Officials: Honouring Contributions and Achievements

The Chief Secretary commended the exemplary work of District Election Officers during the revision of voter lists. Kaushal honoured Gurugram’s District Election Officer Nishant Kumar Yadav, who did commendable work in preparing the revised voter lists and including young voters in the list. Panchkula District Election Officer Sushil Sarwan was honoured with the second prize, Faridabad District Election Officer Vikram and Nuh District Election Officer Dhirendra Khadgata were honoured with the third prize.

In addition, Election Kanungo Suresh Kumar from the Indri assembly constituency was honoured for securing the first position in the state, while Chamma Sharma from the Sohna constituency was recognized for securing the second position. The Chief Secretary awarded the first prize to Election Tehsildar Rajendra Singh from Gurugram, Election Tehsildar Jaikishan from Karnal, and Deputy Superintendent Ajay Prakash from Panchkula jointly received the second prize. Election Tehsildar Dinesh Kumar from Faridabad stood third. Furthermore, ERO Ashok Kumar from the Indri Vis area, ERO Pradeep Kumar from the Sohna Vis area, and Anand Kumar Sharma from the Faridabad Knit Vis area were honoured for securing the first, second, and third positions, respectively.

Distributing Voter ID Cards: Chief Secretary Empowers Young Voters

As part of the celebrations, Chief Secretary Kaushal distributed voter identity cards to several young and new voters, including Aryan, Mehak, Parth Sharma, Annapurna, Rahul, Bhagwant Singh, and Sumit. These individuals, aged between 18 and 19 years, received their identity cards, symbolizing their official entry into the democratic process. Earlier, Sanjeev Kaushal and Anurag Agarwal flagged off the voter awareness rally and inaugurated the state-level painting, photo, and sculpture exhibition organized by the Art and Cultural Affairs Department. Following this, they visited the exhibition organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and launched the voter awareness signature campaign. The Chief Secretary also unveiled the calendar of the Chief Electoral Office.
