Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister, Anil Vij has urged the Government of India to provide Vial monitor indicators also on drugs like anti-rabies vaccine, insulin and tetanus etc. to ensure their storage at proper temperature.
A vial monitor is a thermochromic label put on vials containing vaccines which gives a visual indication of whether the vaccine has been kept at a temperature which preserves its potency.
In this regard, Haryana Health and family welfare minister, Mr. Anil Vij has written a letter to the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya. At present polio vaccine is being labelled with vial monitor indicator.

Meanwhile, the Minister said that the Food and Drug Administration Department today issued order to every licensee having license on Form 20-B and Form 21-B should have to install a digital thermometer with data logger in the refrigerator, in order to maintain proper storage conditions. This order stated that the premises should also have proper power backup to maintain the refrigerators in round-the-clock working condition.

Mr. Anil Vij said that cold storage i.e. 2 degree centigrade to 8 degree centigrade is required for storage of drugs like anti-rabies vaccine, insulin, tetanus toxoid etc. 0n the direction of the Minister the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) teams has inspected 162 chemist shops, out of which 10 have been sealed, in which refrigerators were found turned off.

On the directions of the Health Minister during late last night and early morning, the teams of FDA conducted raids in which 6 chemist shops namely Akshay Medicos, Jakhlana, Yamuna Nagar, Ravindra Medicos, Jalbera Road, Ambala City and Nishant Medicos Store, Jundla, Karnal, Balaji Medicos, Shahbad Road, Saha, Ambala, Om Medicos, Phusgarh Road, Karnal and Rajat Pharma, Phusgarh Road, Karnal were sealed for turning off the refrigerators.
