The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, and former State President of the Haryana Congress Committee, Kumari Selja said the BJP-JJP alliance government in the state has become a major cause of distress for the people.
The government is not conducting any hearings and is not listening to the voice of the people. The Alliance government is unaware of the deteriorating conditions in the state.
“Bureaucracy has a complete hold on the government, causing distress to every individual in the state. The public is protesting democratically through sit-ins, demonstrations, and strikes, but the government has turned a blind eye and deaf ear to it. The government that ignores the people has always been shown the way out of power by the public,” she added.
In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that There is widespread resentment among the people and lawyers in both the police headquarters of Thana Badaur and Rodi in Sirsa district regarding the decision to shift the police headquarters from Sirsa to Dabwali. Lawyers have been on strike for the past 19 days. Kumari Selja said that due to the government’s policies, cotton and kapas (raw cotton) producing farmers are forced to stage demonstrations. The government is not paying any attention to the cotton-producing farmers. In reality, the government has announced an MSP (Minimum Support Price) of 6920 rupees per quintal for cotton, but it has stopped purchasing at the support price. Consequently, private agencies are completely exploiting the farmers.
“Today, in the state’s markets, cotton is being priced at 4500 to 5000 rupees per quintal. Demands are being made in 10 to 12 districts of the state by farmers to purchase cotton at the support price, leading to demonstrations. Meanwhile, in Sirsa, Haryana, the farmers had blocked the roads. On one hand, the alliance government of the state claims to be pro-farmer, but all their claims seem hollow on the ground. During the tenure of this present government, farmers have faced the most exploitation,” the Congress leader said.
“The government is facing considerable public dissatisfaction due to this shortsighted decision. The panchayats of both areas have expressed their objection to the government’s decision and have passed resolutions. However, the government is not ready to listen to anyone and is adamant. The government should respect the proposals of the gram panchayats and work with them. Instead of providing facilities, the government is increasing the public’s troubles by imposing market fees and HRDF (Haryana Rural Development Fund) of one percent on vegetables and fruits from December 20 in Haryana. The government is working to snatch food from the mouths of the poor by imposing market fees on vegetables. As per their announcement, the government should abolish market fees and HRDF on vegetables and fruits,” she added.
She said that The sanitation workers of the local bodies department, as well as those of the third and fourth categories, had gone on a two-day strike, and a warning has been given for a bigger agitation. Their strike had caused no garbage collection in the entire state, and heaps of garbage were visible everywhere. On the other hand, computer operators were also on strike, which had halted work in every department, and even registries were not being made. Meanwhile, the roadways employees have also given a warning to go on strike if their demands are not met. Moreover, guest lecturers are protesting for regularization and had demonstrated against the government in Panchkula on Monday. Farmers are protesting daily for compensation for crops affected by floods and the pink bollworm. But the government is not ready to listen to anything. The government that ignores the people has always been shown the way out of power by the public.
