Chandigarh, January 19
Over 3.5 lakh Sikh voters across Haryana are casting their votes today to elect the first governing body of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC).
The Haryana Gurdwara Election Commission, led by Justice (retd) HS Bhalla, has organized the elections across 40 wards, with 164 candidates contesting.
Voting is being conducted via electronic voting machines. This election represents a significant milestone for Haryana’s Sikh community, granting them autonomy in managing their religious institutions.
Panchkula Witnesses Enthusiastic Voting in HSGMC Elections
Voting is underway in the Panchkula ward for the historic Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) elections. A total of 4,078 registered voters are casting their votes across six polling booths, with six candidates in fray.
Excitement among voters is there, with many first-time voters enthusiastically participating in this landmark election. Notable women voters have also been seen casting their votes, highlighting the community’s active involvement in shaping the future of gurdwara management in the state.
