Haryana CS reviews flood control works with DCs

Haryana Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad, chaired a meeting today through Video Conferencing with all Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to review flood control preparations across the state ahead of the monsoon season.He reiterated the state government’s commitment to preventing incidents of water logging and ensuring public safety.

During the meeting, Chief Secretary Sh TVSN Prasad directed officials to expedite cleaning of drains and channels statewide before the onset of monsoon rains.

He emphasized the urgent need to identify vulnerable areas and deploy essential equipment such as pumping machines and generators to mitigate potential flooding risks. Sh TVSN Prasad underscored that officers must ensure these measures are implemented effectively and maintained in operational condition.

Highlighting the importance of timely execution, the Chief Secretary instructed Deputy Commissioners to personally oversee flood control initiatives to avoid any delays that could inconvenience residents. He assured that adequate funding has been allocated to districts for comprehensive flood management strategies.

In addition, it was disclosed during the meeting that Chief Engineers of the Public Health Engineering Department have been assigned districts to supervise flood control efforts firsthand.

They have been tasked with conducting on-site inspections at vulnerable locations and implementing proactive measures to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season.

Furthermore, the Urban Local Bodies Department reported on its recent drive in April and May, which successfully cleaned major urban drains to enhance flood resilience.

TVSN Prasad concluded the meeting by stressing strict disciplinary action against any officials found neglecting their responsibilities in executing flood control measures.

Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health Engineering A.K Singh, Commissioner and Secretary Irrigation and Water Resources Sh Pankaj Agarwal, Commissioner and Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Vikas Gupta, Director General Information, Public Relations, Languages and Culture and Director General Mines and Geology, Mandip Singh Brar and other senior officers of Irrigation, Public Health Departments were also present in the meeting.
