Govt’s nod for Rs.10 Cr for renovation of Anglo-Sikh War Memorial in Ferozepur

The Punjab government will spend Rs.10 Cr on the overall development and expansion of the historic Ango Sikh War memorial at Ferozshah which will give a boost to the tourism industry in the border district and the people of the country and abroad will also get information about the valuable sacrifices of Punjabis, said Rajnish Dahiya, MLA Ferozepur Rural after meeting Anmol Gagan Mann, Tourism Minister in the Punjab Cabinet led by Bhagwant Singh Mann, Chief Minister, Punjab.

The Punjab government has started big efforts to promote tourism in the state which will give a boost to the tourism industry in this border district and the people of the country and abroad will also get information about the valuable sacrifices of Punjabis.

Giving information in this regard, MLA Ferozepur Rural, Advocate Rajnish Dahiya said that the efforts of Minister of Tourism has been invaluable for the comprehensive development of Ferozeshah, Mudki, Mishriwala etc. historical places related to the battle between Agrarians and Sikh forces and to develop these historical places as tourist centres.

He said, “After a meeting was held with the Tourism Minister, the Punjab government has decided to develop these places of historical importance and given approval to spend Rs.10 Cr for this prestigious project and the work will start in the next few days”.

MLA Dahiya said, “Under this project, where people will know the historical importance of these places and the selfless sacrifices of the Punjabis/Sikh forces, tourism in the district will get a big boost, which will create employment opportunities for a large number of youth in the district. The entire structure of the Aglow Sikh War Memorial will be in 3D, to attract tourists and provide information about the valuable history. There will be large-scale works including theatre, museum block, food court, help desk, souvenir shop, car/bus parking, entry gate, ticket counter, access road, which will be the centre of attraction for the tourists coming here”.

He further said that after this Ferozepur will come on the map of the country and the world as a tourist destination. Other big projects have also been planned by the Punjab government for the convenience of tourists in the district.

Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Maan, efforts are being made for the overall development of the state, while large initiatives have been started to promote tourism in the state, to provide maximum facilities to the tourists, and the state government has also organized historical and cultural fairs on a large scale which will be conducted in the near future, especially the Basant Mela, with which people from the country and abroad will be interested in visiting and enjoying the state. This will create interest in getting to know the rich and glorious history of the state, he added.
