GLADA Chief Administrator Sandeep Rishi, IAS had adopted zero tolerance to unauthorised and unplanned development with a special focus on illegal colonies. He said a special drive has also been launched to take punitive action against those who were fleecing innocent residents under the garb of offering cheaper plots in these unauthorised colonies, which lacked statutory sanction and compliance with the government norms.
In compliance of demolition orders issued by Additional Chief Administrator, GLADA-cum-Competent Authority Sh. Ojasvi, IAS against unauthorised colonies, Duty Magistrate Sh. Surinder Kumar Pabbi, Naib Tehsildar(East), Ludhiana, police force and enforcement team of GLADA comprising of District Town Planner (Regulatory), Assistant Town Planner (Regulatory), Sub-Divisional Engineers, GLADA, Junior Engineers (Regulatory) demolished Eleven unauthorized colonies today i.e. 26th July 2024 at Village Bhamian Khurd, Bhamian Kalan Ludhiana by dismantling their roads, boundary walls, passages, sewer manholes and undergoing illegal constructions and structures on these sites. These unauthorized colonies were situated in village Bhamian Khurd, Bhamian Kalan Ludhiana. When developers did not stop the illegal construction work despite serving them with the notices, a special team carried out the demolition drive, which went unopposed. In a move to check mushrooming of illegal colonies at the very initial stage GLADA is planning more such drives in upcoming weeks.
The Chief Administrator, GLADA, appealed to general public not to purchase property/plots/buildings in unauthorized colonies as GLADA will not provide any facility like water supply, sewerage, electricity connections etc. The list of approved & regularized colonies along with their sanctioned maps is available on the Official Website of GLADA, which may be checked by the prospective buyers before buying any property.
GLADA Additional Chief Administrator said besides undertaking a demolition campaign, GLADA had also recommended that to the concerned Tehsildars for not registering Plots in these unauthorized Colonies, PSPCLfor not issuing electricity connections to these unauthorized colonies besides filing FIRs against the developers of unauthorized colonies in Ludhiana district.
