Punjab Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh on Saturday stated that the existing fire station would be shifted to a new suitable site at an open place out of city. He said that the site identification was on and shortly the process is to be finalised.
The Minister, who was listening to the public issues in his office, said that public problems and concerns would be addressed on priority. He pointed out that the fire tenders always faced issues in case of emergency as the present station was situated in the congested area and new fire station will be set up at an open space at a cost of about Rs 2.50 crore.
Punjab Governemnt under CM Bhagwant Mann Singh’s leadership, said Dr Ravjot, constant efforts were being made to ensure holistic development in all areas. Apart from the education and health sectors, the employment opportunities are being provided to the youngsters especially in Government sector jobs, he added.
The Minister said that cleanliness of the cities of the state and sewerage system had made more mechanised as the Chief Minister recently provided ultra modern machinery to seven districts worth Rs. 14.30. He said the State Government had procured 730 machines at an outlay of Rs. 40 crores for cleanliness purposes in different cities of the state. The new machinery also ensure mechanised cleaning instead of manual process as the requisite training was also being imparted to employees. He said various works related with the Local Government department would be initiated in the district in days to come.
