In a breakthrough, Ferozepur Police have arrested two suspects linked to recent mobile shop thefts and a chemist shop robber. The arrests followed a tip-off and subsequent checkpoint operation.
During a press conference, Randhir Kumar, SP(D), Fateh Singh Brar, DSP along with Mohit Dhawan, CIA Staff In-Charge, provided details of the operation. According to the officials, on October 6, 2024, a team led by Sub-Inspector Gurdev Singh received a tip-off about individuals who had been breaking into shops and carrying firearms. Acting on this information, a police team set up a checkpoint at Quilla Wala Chowk, where they intercepted two suspects on a motorcycle without license plates.
Upon questioning, the suspects identified themselves as Neeraj Kumar (alias Kalu), son of Ashok Kumar, and Mangat (alias Manga), son of Hadiat, both residents of Basti Bhattiya Wali. A search revealed 15 stolen mobile phones, a .315-bore country-made pistol, two live cartridges, and a motorcycle. The recovered mobile phones were stolen from the mobile shop on Chungi Khana Road on October 4, 2024.
Police have registered cases against the accused under the Arms Act and other relevant sections, and further investigations are ongoing.
