Farmers announce to end their stir in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, September 6

The Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) has announced to end their ongoing protest at Chandigarh today.The union leaders had a meeting with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Thursday that lasted for nearly three hours.

The demands of farmers were discussed in the meeting including implementation of agriculture policy, curb on drug menace, and unemployment.

BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) President Joginder Singh Ugrahan informed that all the protesting farmers have been informed to pack their belongings by 2 pm today and they would return to their homes.

Ugrahan said it was the victory of their agitation that the state government agreed to accept almost all their demands.

But he also said that till September 30, they would wait for the state government to provide them a copy of the new agriculture policy as they promised in the meeting. If the government fails to provide them a copy of the policy by the end of this month, they will decide their next course of action.
