India, Pakistan exchange lists of civilian prisoners, fishermen

India and Pakistan on Saturday exchanged, through diplomatic channels simultaneously at New Delhi and Islamabad, the lists of civilian prisoners and fishermen in their custody, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a press release.

Under the provisions of the 2008 Agreement on Consular Access, such lists are exchanged every year on January 1 and July 1. “India has shared lists of 343 civilian prisoners and 74 fishermen in its custody, who are Pakistani or are believed to be Pakistani. Similarly, Pakistan has shared lists of 42 civilian prisoners and 266 fishermen in its custody, who are Indian or are believed to be Indian,” read MEA’s official release.
