To promote proper management of crop residue and agricultural mechanization in the district, a draw was conducted today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal by the District-Level Executive Committee to provide agricultural machinery on subsidy to farmers and Custom Hiring Centers under the CRM (Crop Residue Management) and SMAM (Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization) schemes.
At the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner, while presiding over the meeting along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, stated that under the Crop Residue Management (CRM) Scheme 2025-26, the Department of Agriculture had received online applications via the portal agrimachinerypb.com from April 22 to May 12, 2025, for the provision of machinery for proper management of crop residue.
Dr. Aggarwal informed that based on the available funds and targets, a draw was conducted for the applications received from individual farmers, and permission was granted for the purchase of 154 different machines and also for 38 Custom Hiring Groups. He appealed to the farmers of the district to manage stubble properly in the fields without burning it, by using maximum machinery.
In addition, draws were also conducted for applications received under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) Scheme, through which permission was granted for the purchase of 57 different machines by individual farmers and to 12 Custom Hiring Centers. He further stated that under the scheme, to promote alternate crops like maize in place of paddy, 78 pneumatic planters have been approved on a priority basis.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the beneficiaries under these schemes have been given a time frame of 14 days to purchase the machinery as per the department’s guidelines. The meeting was also attended by Chief Agriculture Officer Randhir Singh Thakur, Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies Gurvinder Jeet Singh, Agriculture Engineer Er. Harcharan Singh, Jasvir Singh Dhindsa, Lead Bank Manager Mohan Singh Moti, progressive farmers Sukhwant Singh and Sukhveer Singh from village Hasan Munda, Block Jalandhar West, Junior Technicians Raman Kumar and Sukhvinder Singh, among others.
