Saplings will be planted at Badi Nadi, Sirhind Bypass, Jail Road and many other places under NCAP to create a green belt in the city, including changing the look of Barandari and Environmental Park

Patiala, July 25: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav has said that the detailed project report for permanently storing water in Rajindra Lake and developing it as a tourist center has been passed by the state-level technical committee and now its tender will be held next week and water will be filled in it within a month.
While holding a meeting with the officials of the Public Works, Drainage, Forest, Horticulture and Fisheries departments including Municipal Commissioner Paramvir Singh, ADCs Isha Singal and Navreet Kaur Sekhon, the Deputy Commissioner said that all the repair work of the city’s roads will be completed in the next three months.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav further said that the tender for the development of Rajindra Lake is being floated by the Municipal Corporation within a week, while the work of the pipeline to release water into it has also been completed by the Drainage Department by 40 percent.
He further said that proposals have been made under the NCAP to change the look of the Barandari and Environmental Park, which are considered the heart of the city. Apart from this, to increase the area under green belt in the city, the Forest Department, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation, will plant saplings on the banks of the big river, Sirhind Bypass, Jail Road, Defense Area, Kesar Bagh and Nabha Road.
The Deputy Commissioner further informed that the face of other squares of the city including the renovation of Leela Bhawan Chowk will also be changed, for which tenders are being floated by the Public Works Department. On this occasion, Superintending Engineer of the Municipal Corporation Harkiran Singh, Forest Division Officer Gurmanpreet Singh, Executive Engineer Piyush Agarwal and Pratham Gambhir along with other officials were present.
