District and Sessions Judge – Chairperson DLSA Rupnagar conducted an inspection of District Jail Rupnagar. Jail barracks were checked and grievances of Jail inmates were addressed. Also a 2-week long rehabilitation course in Embroidery and tie and dye for female inmates of District Jail Rupnagar was launched by District Legal Service Authorities Rupnagar.
The special course was started in collaboration with Jail Authorities and Chairman Deepak Singla, CEO Monica Chawla ECO Conserve Foundation ( Anti Corruption Crime Prevention Community Oriented Policing Society Rupnagar, by DLSA Rupnagar. Same is an initiative to rehabilitate and rebuild confidence and a sense of self-dependency among female inmates.
Ramesh Kumari Ld Chairperson DLSA cum District and Sessions Judge Rupnagar inaugurated the event.
During Jail Inspection, Gurnam Singh, Superintendent of District Jail Rupnagar informed that there is no buffer zone around the jail due to which there is a continuous problem of throwing of mobile phones inside the jail.
District Judge directed the matter to be immediately taken up with ADG (Jail), so that the matter can be further taken up before the Punjab Government for release of funds for construction of a buffer zone. During the visit Himanshi Galhotra CJM-DLSA Rupnagar, Ashish Thathai CJM Rupnagar and Anmoljit Singh Deputy Supdt Jail, were also present.
