In a resolute stride to clamp down on crime, the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, successfully apprehended eight individuals involved in multiple snatching incidents, recovered Snatched items along with the weapons used.
Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar said that a police team was stationed at Kacheri Chowk as part of a routine search for criminal elements. During this, the police team received a tip-off about a group of six juveniles involved in a series of thefts and snatchings. The group had recently snatched a mobile phone from a local, threatening with a cleaver. The group was reportedly moving toward 40 Quarter Chowk to carry out another snatching.
Acting swiftly on this information, the police team reached to the location and apprehended the group of six individuals. An FIR No. 53, dated 02.04.2025 under sections 303(2), 304(2), 305, 308(2), 317(2), 191(3), 190, and 3(5) BNS was registered at PS Navi Baradari. The police recovered five mobile phones, one Splendor motorcycle, one Activa scooter, one air pistol, three sharp weapons from the accused.
She further said that the police team of PS Division No. 4 has investigated a series of cases and successfully traced multiple suspects involved in different crimes:
FIR No. 22 (dated 26.03.2025): Under sections 304 and 3(5) BNS, an investigation began after a complaint from Mohinderpal Singh, who reported that two individuals on a motorcycle snatched his wife’s gold earrings near K.V Market. After swift action, the police identified the suspects as Ranjit Singh alias Mani son of Surinder Singh resident of Kala Sangha Road, Jalandhar and Pulsar motorcycle used in the crime also traced.
FIR No. 23 (dated 27.03.2025): Under sections 109, 126(2), 351(3), 191(3), 190 BNS, was registered on the statement of Pawan Kumar, whose son, Gurpreet Goriya, was attacked by five individuals near Ratan Cinema. On 30.03.2025, the police apprehended two of the accused from Khanna, Satinder Singh alias Sahil and Rajinder Singh alias Deepak both son of Dalbir Singh residents of Guru Arjun Nagar, Jalandhar and motorcycle splendor (PB08FF6790) used in the incident was seized. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend rest of the accused.
FIR No. 24 (dated 28.03.2025): Under sections 115(2), 118(1), 351(3), 296, and 3(5) BNS registered on the statement of Sagar son of late Piyare Lal, reported an attack on him by an individual outside the Civil Hospital. Although the police have traced the individual namely Rahul resident of Ali Mohalla, Jalandhar, he remains at large. Efforts are underway to apprehend him.
