Workshop on Demand Side Management for UHBVN in Chandigarh

Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) in association with PHD Chamber and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) organized a one-day awareness workshop on Demand Side Management prospective for Discom for UHBVN and other line departments under the “Capacity Building of DISCOMs” programme of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency here today.

S Narayanan, DG Hareda while giving the inaugural address mentioned that scaling up DSM will result in improved end-use efficiency, which in turn will reduce the expected increase for overall power demand in future.

Ashwani Raheja, Director Operations, UHBVN stated that with demand aggregation and reduced power procurement costs, the financial condition of Discoms will improve, enabling them to provide reliable and cost-effective electric supply to their consumers.

Sanjay Varma, Director, HERC presented the overview of the regulatory perspective of Demand Side Management for Haryana and Deepak Popli, SE, UHBVN informed about the UHBVNL initiatives for the implementation of DSM in their area of jurisdiction and its impact. Avinash Kumar of BSES Rajdhani Power ltd detailed the Demand Side Management Initiatives of BSES and case study on the implementation of DSM in Delhi.

Many other experts like Parag Kulkarni from MP Ensystems, Lovnish Goyal from EESL, SK Pandit from Capital Meters and Yogesh Sood, Consultant ICA gave presentation highlighting the ways and means of energy conservation through demand side management. Pradeep Nautiyal, Technical Expert Hareda, Sukhchain Singh, Project Manager, HAREDA and Gurdarshan Aggarwal, Additional Resident Director, PHD Chamber were also present during the workshop. Over 50 officers from UHBVN, HERC and HAREDA attended and benefited from workshop.
