The “political crisis” in the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh seems yet to be over as cabinet minister Vikramaditya Singh, who also raised a “banner of revolt” against Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, on Friday reached Delhi after meeting rebel MLAs in Chandigarh.

On Thursday, Congress observer DK Shivakumar had said that the Sukhu government would stay, and all MLAs wanted a Congress government for five years.

Out of the six rebel MLAs, facing disqualification under the anti-defection law, two did not meet Vikramaditya.

Vikramaditya resigned on February 28 from the Council of Ministers. He openly said that legislators had been sidelined, ignored and there was fiscal mismanagement.

“All these issues were raised from time to time with the high command in Delhi but they deliberately ignored the concerns,” he had said.

After two days of parleys and a series of meetings by party’s central observers — DK Shivakumar, Bhupesh Baghel and Bhupinder Singh Hooda, state Congress president Pratibha Singh and her son Vikramaditya were pacified.

Vikramaditya did not withdraw his resignation till the observers announced a six-member committee for coordination between the government and the party organisation.
