Final decision on Chandigarh Mayoral polls date on January 24

Chandigarh, January 23

Amid the uncertainity over Chandigarh Mayoral polls, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed Chandigarh Administration to specify poll date.

The court has orally directed the Counsel for UT and MC to come up with an early date for Mayor election. The court said February 6 is not acceptable. The Court also said that the Administration’s argument that Law and order situation in Chandigarh is not conducive to holding election.

The Court had also stated that in absence of any fresh agreeable date for election, the court will decide the case on merits tomorrow. There will be no more adjournments.Case to co.e up in Court no. 11 at 10.30 am on 24.01.2024.
