Congress, AAP seal alliance for Mayor elections?

Chandigarh, January 15

Aam Admi Party (AAP) and Congress are likely to sticth an alliance for Mayor polls in Chandigarh slated for January 18, 2024. Though nothing has been officially confirmed but sources have indicated that such a development might be announced later in the day today.

According to a report of The Tribune, high command of both the parties have okayed alliance for battle of Municipal Corporation Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor. As per leaders of these parties, Mayor will be from AAP and Congress will pocket posts of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Acording to repot, this can be first defeat of BJP in Municipal Corportaion where it is in power since last 8 years. Though officially alliance has not been announced but leaders of both parties have confirmed the development. At present BJP has 15 Councillors in MC, Congress has 7, AAP has 13 and Akali Dal has 1 Municipal Councillor.
