City Mayor Kuldeep Kumar today formally inaugurated the market in the presence of Area Councillor Smt. Prem Lata, office bearers of Market Welfare Association, prominent persons of the area.
While speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the revamped market in Sector-34 is a testament to our commitment to creating a vibrant and appealing environment for residents and visitors alike. He said that he has delighted to see the transformation and believe that it will significantly contribute to the economic growth of the area.
He said that the revamped market in Sector-34, Chandigarh, is now open to the public, and residents and visitors are encouraged to explore the upgraded facilities and enjoy the enhanced shopping experience.
MC Commissioner Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, expressed about the collaborative efforts of the Municipal Corporation and local stakeholders, saying that this revitalization project exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships and the collective vision for a progressive and inclusive city. The revamped market will undoubtedly elevate the shopping experience and attract more footfall, bolstering the local economy.
She further mentioned that as part of the renovation project, the market underwent a comprehensive transformation, with particular attention given to the flooring and infrastructure. The front of the market and showrooms now boast high-density chequered tiles, providing a modern and visually appealing look. Additionally, the paver blocks at the backside of SCO/Booth in the market have been refixed, enhancing the overall durability and aesthetics of the area.
The Commissioner said that one of the notable features of the revamped market is the installation of old MS railings. These railings not only serve as a safety measure but also add a touch of elegance and sophistication to the surroundings. The entire renovation process was executed with utmost precision and adherence to quality standards, resulting in an approximate expenditure of 45 lakhs.
