Chandigarh Mayor flags off cattle-catching vehicles

Aiming to make the city free from stray cattle, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has added three more cattle-catching vehicles in the fleet of machinery in the MCC.

Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh, and . Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today flagged off the three new cattle-catching vehicles from MCC office premises, Sector 17, Chandigarh. These vehicles have been purchased with the hydraulic system at a cost of Rs. 52.5 lacs.

The Mayor said that the hydraulic system in these vehicles will help to prevent injuries during the cattle-catching drives in the city and increase the efficiency in loading and unloading of impounded cattle.

He said that with the addition of these 3 new vehicles, the total strength of cattle-catching vehicles will be 5 from which three will be deployed in 3 zones i.e. north, south and Manimajra areas and two will be kept reserve for special cattle-catching drives in the city.
