BJP councillor joins AAP ahead of Chandigarh Mayor polls

Chandigarh, January 13

Five days before the election of Chandigarh mayor, BJP councillor Gurucharan Singh Kala joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday. This development took place on the day when all three parties – BJP, AAP and Congress filed their nominations for posts of mayor, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor.

Now in the House of 35 councillors, the BJP has 14, AAP has 13, Congress has seven and Akali Dal has one councillor.

Notably, Kala joined BJP from Congress in 2022 and now again he switched to AAP.

The three parties on Saturday announced following candidates for the posts of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor:
