Chandigarh University partners with Bajaj Auto for Punjab’s first BEST Centre

Chandigarh University, India’s top private University, on Thursday entered a partnership with Bajaj Auto Limited to set up Punjab’s first Bajaj Engineering Skill Training (BEST) Centre of Excellence in the university campus, to provide hands-on training to 21st-century learners in the contemporary and evolving technology used in the manufacturing industry.

In this collaboration, Bajaj Auto Ltd, through its flagship CSR initiative, BEST, will set up the Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing Skills at the university campus with a CSR funding of Rs 20 Crore over three years.

BEST aims to equip graduate and diploma engineers from tier 2, tier 3 and tier 4 cities / colleges with the latest manufacturing skills making them competent and employable.

The signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), conducted at the Chandigarh University campus, took place in the presence Vice Chancellor Chandigarh University Dr Manpreet Singh Manna, Director General Chandigarh University, Hrridaysh Parshuram Deshpande, and Bajaj Auto Officials Sudhakar Gudipati, VP-CSR, Sabyasachi Ray, VP-HR, Ramesh V, Head – Skilling and Sumit Dutta, Partnerships Manager.

BEST center at Chandigarh University will support youth from economically weaker sections of society to acquire skills in emerging technology and enhance their employment opportunities. This collaboration aims to build a stronger industry-academia engagement and enhance the industry-readiness of students in the evolving industry landscape.

The courses of BEST will provide the trainees with the skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience they need to be employment ready.

The curriculum is aligned with the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and focuses on future-centric topics in four modules: mechatronics, motion control and sensor technology, robotics and automation, and industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing.

Expressing happiness over this collaboration, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chandigarh University Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu said this MoU with Bajaj Auto signifies a significant stride in fostering collaboration between academia and industry.“We believe in making the students of this nation industry-ready and this association with Bajaj Auto signifies a significant stride in fostering collaboration between academia and industry. Bajaj Auto, a leading automobile manufacturing company, has used their expertise in building BEST curriculum which will help the students from this center to learn and equip with relevant industry skills. This agreement will further strengthen the New Education Policy 2020 by collaborating with Industry and academia,” he said.

“Chandigarh University has always stood for quality education. We believe that with BEST more students, especially the talented individuals from weaker sections who must brave systematic societal problems regularly, would receive a better opportunity to enhance their skills and become competent professionals in today’s competitive world. This MoU encapsulates exactly that preoccupation of the institution and our legacy of excellence ahead, “the Chancellor said.

Sudhakar Gudipati, VP- CSR of Bajaj Auto said, “We are happy to partner with Chandigarh University in our mission to skill youth and India. The BEST Centre at Chandigarh will be an advanced facility, equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories aimed at enhancing practical skills among students, thereby enhancing their employability in the manufacturing sector.”

Ray said, “BEST underlines Bajaj Auto’s commitment to foster skill development and empower Indian youth. With our collaboration with universities like Chandigarh University-, we are set to empower the next generation of engineers to excel in the industry.”

With this collaborative effort, Chandigarh University and Bajaj Auto are poised to make a significant impact on the skilling ecosystem in engineering and the manufacturing industry.
