Chandigarh, May 6
Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav informed the media that a citywide civil defense mock drill will be conducted tomorrow, including a blackout drill aimed at enhancing public preparedness.
As part of the exercise, a mock drill will be carried out at two locations in the city at 4:00 pm. Later, at 7:30 pm, a blackout drill will take place, during which a siren will sound for ten minutes. Citizens are requested to switch off all lights during this period.
Those driving on roads have also been advised to park their vehicles and turn off headlights while the drill is underway.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that this is a preparatory mechanism only, intended to raise awareness and assess emergency readiness. He urged residents not to panic or believe misinformation being circulated on social media regarding the storage of ration, petrol, or diesel.
Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate fully and avoid spreading or acting upon rumors.
