Tragic Kota Collapse: 3-Storey Building Falls, 2 Dead, 10 Rescued Safely

A heartbreaking incident occurred late Saturday night in Kota’s Talwandi area when a three-storey building housing a restaurant suddenly collapsed. Two people died in the tragedy, with several others injured.

Incident Details

Time & Location: The collapse happened around 9 PM in the Jawahar Nagar Police Station area, right opposite Opera Hospital.
People Trapped: About 15 people including restaurant staff and customers were inside at the time.
Casualties: Education Minister Madan Dilawar confirmed two deaths, one reportedly a coaching student.

Rescue & Relief Operations

Rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately:

Rescued: 10 people safely extracted from rubble and sent to MBS Hospital and private facilities.
On-Site Officials: Minister Madan Lal Dilawar, MLA Sandeep Sharma, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s OSD Rajeev Datta assessed the situation.
Safety Measures: Electricity supply to the entire area cut off to aid rescue efforts.

Likely Cause

Local reports indicate construction work with heavy drilling and hammering machines had been ongoing behind the building for days, causing vibrations that likely weakened the foundation.

“Our priority is rescuing anyone still trapped under debris. Strict action will follow the investigation,” said Minister Madan Dilawar.
